Lisa Asbreuk

Lisa Asbreuk* is a Partner in our Business Law Group. Lisa provides advice to clients on corporate commercial transactions and Ontario and Alberta energy sector matters. Prior to joining Cunningham Swan, Lisa practiced with a major national law firm in Toronto and Calgary, and in-house at ENMAX Corporation in Calgary. Lisa advises businesses and entrepreneurs on incorporation and partnership structuring, governance matters, shareholder and partnership agreements, consulting and cost-sharing agreements, commercial contract negotiation and risk management, and on significant transactions such as the purchase or sale of a business or assets, or issuance of private company shares to new investors. In addition, she advises a number of new and well-established not-for-profit corporations, registered charities, and co-operatives on governance and other legal matters. Lisa has experience in energy law and policy matters related to the Ontario and Alberta power, pipeline, and oil and gas sectors and emerging Canadian carbon markets, particularly with respect to renewable power project development, energy contracts, leases, project due diligence, interconnection and transmission issues, engineering, procurement and construction contracts, regulatory requirements, emissions and offsets, conservation and demand management, and distributed generation. Lisa has advised on power project development related to wind, solar, hydroelectric, gas, co-generation, and district energy projects, and on innovative projects involving unconventional project partners.
