Barbara J. Kimmitt

Barbara Kimmitt acts in the preparation of wills, enduring power of attorneys, personal directives, trusts, estate administrations and dependent adult applications. Prior to joining Bennett Jones, Barbara developed her practice at a prominent regional law firm before becoming a sole practitioner, where she primarily provided estate planning services to the clients of a Calgary-based financial planning firm. In 2009, she participated in an Experts Table in meetings with the Alberta government to discuss proposals for change to legislation relating to succession law. She also participated in numerous discussions and group meetings with respect to the Wills & Succession Act, as well as draft legislation relating to the administration of estates. Barbara has been an adjunct professor of the Wills course at the University of Calgary Law School, an instructor of the certified financial planners course and an instructor of the Bar Admission course and Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education (CPLED).
