Laura Kanaan Partner

Laura is a family lawyer, mediator and collaborative lawyer. She represents clients in cases involving custody, access, support and division of assets. Laura enjoys solving complex problems. She takes a results-oriented approach to client issues and strives to generate unique, cost-effective solutions for clients. Where possible, Laura uses alternative dispute resolutions to help clients resolve their matters efficiently without the involvement of the courts. Laura has extensive training in the area of interdisciplinary Collaborative Practice and has successfully negotiated agreements on behalf of her clients within this process. When litigation is necessary, she has experience representing clients before the courts, particularly in cases where there is a high level of conflict. Laura has appeared before the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, the Provincial Court of Nova Scotia, the Supreme Court of Prince Edward Island, the Provincial Court of Prince Edward Island, the Registrar of Motor Vehicles of Prince Edward Island and the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission.
