Laura Hillyer - MARTIN & HILLYER
2122 Old Lakeshore Road Burlington, ON L7R 1A3
Laura Hillyer divides her practice between Personal Injury Litigation and Criminal Defence. She strives to help her clients with the challenges they face whether they are injured or disabled and are seeking fair compensation, or are charged with a criminal offence. Laura believes that practising in these two areas of law provides her with a wide breadth of experience and gives her a balanced approach in facing legal problems. Laura recognizes that her clients are often confused, frustrated and anxious when facing the prospect of dealing with the legal system. Consequently, she makes it a priority to ensure that her clients understand the legal issues that will decide their cases. Laura is on the Executive of the Board of Directors of the Ontario Trial Lawyers’ Association and is a Governor to the American Association for Justice. She attends conferences several times throughout the year, both in Canada and in the United States, in order to keep abreast of changes in the civil justice system and to network with other lawyers dedicated to providing the best representation to their clients. Laura is a member of the Halton County Law Association, Hamilton Law Association and the Criminal Lawyers’ Association. She regularly attends continuing education courses to keep current with changes in the field of criminal law. She takes a particular interest in impaired driving cases and successfully completed course requirements as an Intoxilyzer Breath Alcohol Technician.
