Alexander J. Mackillop Managing Partner

Alexander has a general practice with a focus on criminal law, frequently litigating in Provincial Court and also having experience litigating in the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia and the Court of Appeal. Furthermore Alexander practices corporate law, business law, and medical cannabis law. He has worked within cannabis law on many levels with Licensed Producers, Cannabis Dispensaries, and the criminal, employment, and regulatory aspects of cannabis law as well. Volunteering and community is important to Alexander. He is a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society Racial Equity Committee and Criminal Law Professional Standards Committee, the Nova Scotia Criminal Lawyers' Association, and the Dalhousie Pro-Bono Committee. Lastly, he is a board member of the John Howard Society, the Dalhousie Law Alumni Association and he was previously a board member of the Marguerite Centre. Alexander works tirelessly for his clients, and he is extremely proud to provide legal services to the community. Originally from Truro, Nova Scotia, Alexander obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Criminology from Saint Mary’s University in 2011. Alexander then obtained his law degree from the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University in 2015, and was called to the Nova Scotia Bar June 2016.
