Patrick is a native of Lunenburg. After graduating from Lunenburg Jr. Sr. High School, he attended Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia, and then Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1975 and a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B.) in 1978. Patrick was admitted to the Bar of Nova Scotia on December 18, 1978 and has been practicing law in Lunenburg since that time, initially with Robert C. Hebb, Q.C. (as he then was) under the firm name of Hebb & Burke, later with David K. Macdonald under the firm name of Burke & Macdonald, and currently with Piotr Luczak under the firm name of Burke, Macdonald & Luczak, Barristers & Solicitors. Patrick was appointed a Queen’s Counsel in 2004 and is currently a member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society, the Lunenburg County Barristers’ Association and the Real Estate Lawyers Association. He is a Past-Chair of the ad-hoc Probate Committee of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society and the Past-Secretary-Treasurer of the Lunenburg County Barristers' Association. Patrick's primary practice focus is in the areas of municipal law, family law, wills, powers of attorney and estates.
